Summer school of Medieval Studies held after CARMEN Annual Meeting in Sazava (6-8 September), Czech Republic
The Summer School of Medieval Studies (Letní škola medievistických studií) is held during the first weekend of September (6-8th) at the Sázava Monastery, 50 km south of Prague, offering doctoral students practical seminars and thematic lecture blocks, a section to present their own projects, and a keynote lecture by a significant medievalist. This event – also popular because of the lively informal debates in the evening – is attended by approximately 60 young Czech medievalists each year.
Draft programme:
Friday evening (7pm): Keynote lecture
Saturday morning: Lectures on thematic issue
Saturday afternoon: Practical seminars; Excursion to Sazava monastery
Sunday morning: Doctorant section (posters); Practical seminars
Sunday afternoon: Excursion to proximal landmark (castle, church, ruin...)
The participants of CARMEN Annual Meeting are welcome and can apply to Jaroslav Svatek (jaroslav.svatek@ff.cuni.cz) to 15th July. Notice: The lectures and seminars are held in Czech.
