CARMEN Annual Meeting in Porto - Theme and Resources

This year the Engº António de Almeida Foundation in Porto, Portugal, generously hosted CARMEN Annual Meeting (13-15 September). The event was superbly organised by CEPESE - Centro de Estudios da Populacao, Economia e Sociedade, Universidade do Porto, and turned out to be a truly interesting and friendly meeting, informative as well as encouraging informal discussions. As the situation in collaborative humanities funding is not easy at the moment, CARMEN Meeting focused this time on facilitating informal exchange, and networking across CARMEN to identify shared areas of interest, and build up research networks that are necessary for developing international collaboration beyond simple project application.

The theme of the meeting "Impact in the humanities" attracted high attention from the meeting participants. The invited presentation on HERA's evaluation of impact by the Science Officer of the HERA  Joint Research Programme (ESF) Julia Boman can be downloaded here http://www.carmen-medieval.net/cz/download/1404041556/. The presentations of our Portuguese colleagues on medieval Portugal from the carthography point of view and the presentation on successful project on medieval food can be downloaded from the Documents and archive on our website, subsection Presentations.
